The majority of Jesus’ acts of mercy and miracles revolved around health.

 

Diseases humiliate the sick and create pressure not only on the individual but also on their family and community.

 

Can the church play a role in supporting people regarding their health?

What resources do we have?

 

One great resource is the health workers within the church. We have highly skilled and accomplished professionals, including top specialists in various fields, among us. Many of these specialists are also servants in the church and are willing to respond to the priests’ requests for service without hesitation.

 

Another valuable resource is the church’s facilities. We have halls, equipment, and streaming tools like YouTube that can be utilised. How can we start? I imagine the church could initiate programs focused on disease prevention, providing advice for healing, and offering practical health support. For example, the church can use its canteen to supply quality products at subsidised costs. While we often view the canteen as a service for the congregation, it can also become a platform for promoting health and well-being.

 

Additionally, we have a skilled trainer, Thalia, and an excellent program in place. We need to expand these efforts and provide more services.

 

Therefore, I encourage anyone in the congregation who feels called to contribute in this area to speak with me. Together, we can explore how to further employ these resources for the Glory of God.

2. St Wanas Feast Celebrations

Tomorrow – Sat 23 Nov

You are invited to join us to celebrate the feast of our beloved St Wanas.

Children are encouraged to come dressed as St Wanas. There will also be a Kahoot, the winners will receive a gift voucher!

3. Extra late mass during the Nativity fast

 

Nativity Fasting starts this Monday 25th November. During the fast there will be a late mass 1 – 2:30pm every Wednesday.

We pray for a blessed fast, full of prayers, repentance, ascetic life and a deeper relationship with God.

5. Christmas Carols

1 December at 6pm

St John and St Mark’s churches will combine for this special event at: 107 Carwar Avenue, Carss Park!

 

The night will include face painting, hair braiding, Photo Booth, Santa appearance, carols and more!

 

If you could please fill in the attached Google form as numbers are limited and also as a way to keep you updated in case of wet weather.

 

Reminder: please write your phone number on your child’s arm in case they get lost as this is a community event. Wrist bands will be available on the day at the lost and found tent.

A Global Christmas

Let’s make a Difference! 

Thanksgiving Australia will be hosting a fundraiser on Sunday the 1st of December! All proceeds help support those in need that are less fortunate including providing health and education to kids in the Philippines Cambodia and Egypt

 

Why It Matters

People all over the world are living in poverty and together we can make a change.

9. Parking Guidelines

 

Please take note of the following guidelines when parking your car and take care of our neighbours:

Avoid Parking Near Driveways or Corners: Always ensure that your vehicle does not block any driveways and that you avoid parking too close to corners, which can obstruct the view for other drivers and pedestrians.

Quiet Arrival and Departure: Please be as quiet as possible when arriving and leaving in your vehicles. This consideration will help maintain the tranquillity of our neighbourhood.

No Parking on Broe Avenue: Please observe the specific rule of not parking along Broe Avenue as this creates a traffic bottleneck which is dangerous.

Respect Neighbours’ Reserved Spots: Some neighbours may place bins or other markers to reserve parking spots for their households. Out of respect for their needs and requests, please do not move these markers or park in these reserved spots.

معظم أعمال الرحمة والمعجزات التي قام بها السيد المسيح تحوم حول الصحة. إن الأمراض تذل المريض وتخلق نوع من الضغط ليس فقط على المريض بل على عائلته ودائرته الاجتماعية. هل يمكن للكنيسة أن تلعب دوراً في دعم الاشخاص للاعتناء بصحتهم؟ ما هي الموارد التي لدينا؟

إحدى هذه الموارد العظيمة هم العاملين في مجال الصحة في كنيستنا. لدينا خبراء ذوي مهارات عالية وأخصائيين في مجالات متعددة. والعديد من هؤلاء الاخصائيين هم خدام في الكنيسة ومستعدون للاستجابة لطلبات الكهنة بدون تردد.

مورد آخر له قيمته وهو مرافق الكنيسة. لدينا قاعات، ومعدات، وأدوات للبث مثل قناة اليوتيوب التي يمكن استخدامها. كيف نبدأ؟ اعتقد يمكن للكنيسة أن تبادر ببرامج تركز على الحماية من المرض، تقديم النصيحة للعلاج، وتقديم دعم صحي عملي. فمثلاً، يمكن للكنيسة أن تستخدم الكانتين لتقديم منتجات ذات جودة بأسعار مخفضة. بينما نحن نعتبر الكانتين خدمة للشعب، يمكنه أيضاً ان يكون منصة لترويج الصحة العامة.

بالإضافة إلى ذلك، لدينا مدربة ممتازة “ثاليا” وتقدم برنامج ممتاز. نحتاج إلى توسيع تلك الجهود وتقديم خدمات أكثر. لذلك ادعو أي فرد من الشعب يشعر بإمكانية مساهمته في هذا المجال أن يتحدث إلي. يمكننا معاً أن نكتشف كيف يمكن توظيف تلك الموارد لمجد الله.
