He led the people of Israel into the Promised land

God said to Joshua “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

His final act before his departure was gathering together the elders of Israel, their heads, their judges and their officers, and commanding them to keep the commandment of the Law and not to deviate from worshipping God.
