Claim to fame: He was a disciple of St. John the Evangelist and traveled with him to many cities. St. John ordained him Patriarch of Antioch where he preached the life-giving Gospel, converted many to the knowledge of God, baptized them, illumined them, and showed them the error of worshipping idols.
Quote: “I am the wheat of God, and am ground by the teeth of the wild beasts, that I may be found the pure bread of God.”
