1. Weekly Spiritual Message

Spiritual message for this week by Father Elijah:

During the Lent we have to be careful about what we put into our mouths. It would be wonderful if we paid as much attention to what comes out of our mouths too! The Lord Himself teaches us: “Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” Matthew 15:11 This is not to say that abstinence and a simple vegan diet thereafter are not important, rather “These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.” Matthew 23:23

Let us fast this Lent not only from meat and fish but from lying, judging, gossiping, complaining, idle chatter, swearing and the many other sins of the tongue. In the piercing words of St John Chrysostom: “Let the mouth also fast from disgraceful speeches and railings. For what does it profit if we abstain from fish and fowl and yet bite and devour our brothers and sisters?”

2. Weekend Liturgies timetable

Please note the following important guidelines:

1. We encourage you to attend weekday masses when possible and leave Sunday free for others who don’t have any other choice. This will help keep attendance numbers under control and protect the church from any trouble. Your assistance is very much appreciated.

2. Although some rules have been relaxed it is important to remain diligent and avoid crowding. Please pre-order your food and avoid gathering in front of the food booths.

3. During Lent, starting Sunday 14 March, there will be an additional late Sunday mass: 5:30 – 7pm.

On Sunday 14 March, the bookshop is celebrating Pope Kyrillos and Pope Shenouda. Please visit us to see the latest arrivals!

١.الرسالة الروحية الأسبوعية

يقدم رسالة هذا الاسبوع أبونا إيلايجا

نحرص خلال الصوم الكبير على ما ندخله في افواهنا ياليتنا نحرص بنفس القدر على ما يخرج من أفواهنا ايضاً

يقول السيد المسيح بنفسه “لَيْسَ مَا يَدْخُلُ الْفَمَ يُنَجِّسُ الإِنْسَانَ، بَلْ مَا يَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْفَمِ هذَا يُنَجِّسُ الإِنْسَانَ متى ١٥:١١»

وهذا لا يعني أن الصوم الانقطاعي والنظام الغذائي النباتي البسيط ليسا مهمين، بل يَنْبَغِي أَنْ تَعْمَلُوا هذِهِ وَلاَ تَتْرُكُوا تِلْكَ متى ٢٣:٢٣
فلنصم هذا الصوم ليس فقط عن اللحم والسمك بل وعن الكذب والإدانة والنميمة والشكوى والكلام الباطل والشتيمة وغيرهم من خطايا اللسان، يقول القديس ذهبي الفم كلمة ثاقبة: فيصم الفم أيضاً عن الأحاديث المشينة. لأنه ماذا ننتفع إذا امتنعنا عن السمك والطيور وننهش أخوتنا وأخواتنا

٢.جدول قداسات السبت والأحد

نرجوكم الاطلاع على الإرشادات الهامة التالية:

· نحثكم على حضور قداسات أيام الأسبوع إذا امكن، وترك قداسات يومي السبت والأحد لمن ليس لهم هذا الخيار . سيساعد هذا الأمر في الحفاظ على الالتزام بعدد الحضور المسموح به من المصلين، نقدر كثيراً مساعدتكم في هذا الأمر

· وعلى الرغم من تخفيف بعض القوانين بدءً من اليوم الجمعة ١٢ فبراير، الا أن الحرص وتجنب الازدحام أمور لا تزال مهمة. يُرجى وضع طلب الطعام مسبقاً وتجنب الزحمة أمام منافذ الطعام

خلال الصوم الكبير وبدءً من يوم الأحد الموافق ١٤ مارس سيقام قداس إضافي من ٥:٣٠ – ٧ مساءً.
