Have you ever had a bad haircut?

How did it make you feel?

Perhaps embarrassed, maybe even angry at the person who cut it unskilfully.

St Augustine has a very interesting perspective on this when reflecting on 1 Corinthians 12:26, which reads: “And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honoured, all the members rejoice with it.”

St Augustine contemplates: “Aren’t the hairs of your head certainly of less value than your other members? What is cheaper, more despicable, more lowly in your body than the hairs of your head? Yet if the barber trims your hair unskilfully, you become angry at him because he does not cut your hair evenly. Yet you do not maintain that same concern for unity of the members in the church.”

Maybe next time you have a haircut you can think of another member of the church who is suffering and suffer with them or who is rejoicing and rejoice with them. After all, we ought to care about these priceless members of the body of Christ infinitely more than our hair, a member which will (most of the time) grow back.

4. Hearing Australia visit 

Tuesday 23 Jul 

If you’re 55 years or older and interested in having your hearing assessed, Hearing Australia is visiting our church to provide a complimentary initial hearing test and guide you to further evaluations if necessary.

6. Intensive Chemistry Classes

7. Bereavement Support Groups

An 8-week support group with trained facilitators for those in grief will be held, featuring prayer, hymns, and structured discussions.

The sessions are scheduled for Mondays from 7 to 8 PM, beginning on the 29th of July.

11. Look after our Neighbours Please

Please take note of the following guidelines when parking your car.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.

1. Avoid Parking Near Driveways or Corners: Always ensure that your vehicle does not block any driveways and that you avoid parking too close to corners, which can obstruct the view for other drivers and pedestrians.
2. Quiet Arrival and Departure: Please be as quiet as possible when arriving and leaving in your vehicles. This consideration will help maintain the tranquillity of our neighbourhood.
3. No Parking on Broe Avenue: Please observe the specific rule of not parking along Broe Avenue as this creates a traffic bottleneck which is dangerous.
4. Respect Neighbours’ Reserved Spots: Some neighbours may place bins or other markers to reserve parking spots for their households. Out of respect for their needs and requests, please do not move these markers or park in these reserved spots.

Should you have any concerns or require assistance regarding parking, please feel free to contact the church office.

يقدم رسالة هذا الاسبوع قدس ابونا إيلايجا،

هل تعرضت من قبل إلى تجربة سيئة في قص شعرك؟ كيف جعلتك تشعر؟ ربما بالحرج، أو حتى بالغضب من الشخص الذي قص شعرك بعدم مهارة. لدى القديس اغوسطينوس وجهة نظر في هذا الأمر عندما نتأمل في 1 كورونثوس 12: 26 “ فَإِنْ كَانَ عُضْوٌ وَاحِدٌ يَتَأَلَّمُ، فَجَمِيعُ الأَعْضَاءِ تَتَأَلَّمُ مَعَهُ. وَإِنْ كَانَ عُضْوٌ وَاحِدٌ يُكَرَّمُ، فَجَمِيعُ الأَعْضَاءِ تَفْرَحُ مَعَهُ”.

يقول القديس أغوسطينوس متأملاً: “أليس شعر رأسك بالتأكيد أقل قيمة من باقي أعضائك الأخرى؟ ما هو الشئ الأرخص، والأحقر في جسمك عن الشعر؟ ومع ذلك، إذا قص الحلاق شعرك بعدم مهارة ، تغضب لأانه لم يحسن قص شعرك بتناسق. ولكنك لا تهتم بنفس هذا المقدار على وحدة أعضاء الكنيسة.”

في المرة القادمة عندما تحصل على قص شعرك ربما تفكر في عضو من أعضاء الكنيسة يعاني وتعاني معه أو فرح وتفرح معه. يجب علينا أن نعتني بهؤلاء الأعضاء الذين لا يقدرون بثمن الذين هم أعضاء جسد السيد المسيح وبالطبع أكثر من اهتمامنا بشعرنا، لأنه عضو (في معظم الأحيان) سينمو مرة ثانية .

• تجنب ركن السيارات بجوار مداخل المنازل أو بجانب زوايا الشارع: تأكد دائماً من عدم سد أي مداخل/مخارج المنازل والامتناع عن الركن بالقرب من زوايا الشارع حيث يتم حجب الرؤية لغيرك من سائقي السيارات والمشاة.
• الوصول والمغادرة الهادئة: يُرجى التزام الهدوء على قدر الإمكان عند الوصول إلى الكنيسة وعند مغادرتها. سيساعد هذا الحرص على الاحتفاظ بهدوء وسلام منطقتنا.
• عدم الركن في Broe Avenue: يُرجى الحرص على عدم ركن السيارات في Broe Avenueمما يسبب اختناق مروري وهو أمر خطير.
• احترام الأماكن المحجوزة الخاصة بالجيران. قد يضع بعض الجيران صناديق القمامة أو غيرها لحجز أماكن لسياراتهم. ينبغي احترام احتياجاتهم ورغباتهم، يرجى عدم تحريك هذه العلامات وعدم الركن في الأماكن المحجوزة.
