Have you ever entered a fast thinking: I’m going to pray more, fast more, read my bible more, confess more, only to find that by the end of the fast you haven’t really changed much?

 

Whenever we are trying to establish good habits, one idea is to attach the new behaviour to an existing habit.

 

Eg. A student who studies every day may introduce Bible reading before or after their daily studies

 

Someone travelling to work may use their commute time on the train to and from work to read a spiritual book or listen to sermons/ hymns

 

A parent with a young child may use their child’s existing daily routine to sneak in a few psalms in between nap time or during meal preps.

 

The next time you’re waiting for your coffee order to arrive – try sneaking in a few arrow prayers  by lifting your heart to heaven begging our Lord, “My Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy upon me a sinner.”

 

With every milestone that we pass in our lives it is good practice to reflect on our past (i.e how was my spiritual canon on the Apostles Feast 2023?), compare it to how we live our life currently (how is my spiritual canon today? Am I living a Godly life?) and see how that compares to our goals of how we would like our lives to look like (If I truly love the Lord and want to know Him and spend time with Him daily, what do I want/need my spiritual canon to look like ideally?)

 

St Paul encourages us saying “run the race in such a way that you may win” (1Cor9:24)

 

Let us use this milestone of the Feast of the Apostles to sit with ourselves and our spiritual fathers and be serious about putting together a plan where we grow closer to our Lord with every day that passes.

If you’re 55 years or older and interested in having your hearing assessed, Hearing Australia is visiting our church to provide a complimentary initial hearing test and guide you to further evaluations if necessary.

8.  Look after our neighbours please

Please take note of the following guidelines when parking your car.

 

Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.

1. Avoid Parking Near Driveways or Corners: Always ensure that your vehicle does not block any driveways and that you avoid parking too close to corners, which can obstruct the view for other drivers and pedestrians.
2. Quiet Arrival and Departure: Please be as quiet as possible when arriving and leaving in your vehicles. This consideration will help maintain the tranquillity of our neighbourhood.
3. No Parking on Broe Avenue: Please observe the specific rule of not parking along Broe Avenue as this creates a traffic bottleneck which is dangerous.
4. Respect Neighbours’ Reserved Spots: Some neighbours may place bins or other markers to reserve parking spots for their households. Out of respect for their needs and requests, please do not move these markers or park in these reserved spots.

Should you have any concerns or require assistance regarding parking, please feel free to contact the church office.

We are deeply grateful for the unwavering generosity and support you continuously show to our church family. Your willingness to donate items is truly appreciated.

 

However, we kindly request that you refrain from donating items or goods at this time.

 

Unfortunately, many of the donated items are either damaged or not needed, which places a significant burden on our volunteer servants who have to dispose of them.

 

To help us manage this better, please consult with any of our church fathers before bringing any items to the church.

 هل سبق وبدأت صوماً ما وأنت تقول: سأصلي أكثر وأصوم أكثر واقرأ الكتاب المقدس أكثر واعترف أكثر ثم ينتهي الصوم وتكتشف أنك لم تتغير كثيراً؟

 

 عندما نحاول ترسيخ عادات جيدة، يجب ان يكون هناك فكرة جديدة تربط السلوك الجديد بالعادة الموجودة.

 

على سبيل المثال: الطالب وهو يذاكر كل يوم يمكنه أن يبدأ في قراءة الإنجيل قبل أو بعد مذاكرته اليومية. 

 

الشخص الذاهب إلى عمله، يمكنه أن يستخدم الوقت الذي يقضيه في القطار من وإلى العمل في قراءة كتاب روحي أو الاستماع إلى عظة أو ألحان. 

 

الأم أو الأب الذي معه طفل صغير قد يستخدم الروتين اليومي الحالي لطفله ويقرأ بعض المزامير والطفل نائم أو أثناء تحضير وجبة الطعام. 

 

في المرة القادمة وأنت في انتظار كوب القهوة الذي طلبته – حاول أن ترفع قلبك إلى السماء متضرعاً لله وتقول الصلاة السهمية “ياربي يسوع المسيح، ابن الله الحي، ارحمني انا الخاطي”.

 

مع كل مرحلة نمر بها في حياتنا، من الجيد أن نتأمل في ماضينا ( كيف كان قانوني الروحي في صوم الرسل 2023؟) قارن بينه وبين كيفية ممارسة حياتنا الآن (ما هو قانوني الروحي اليوم؟ هل أنا احيا حياة مقدسة؟) وقارن بين أهدافنا وما نود أن تكون عليه حياتنا (إذا كنت بالحقيقة احب الله وأود أن أعرفه وأن أقضي معه وقت يومياً، كيف أود أو احتاج أن يكون قانوني الروحي؟

 

 يشجعنا القديس بولس ويقول: ” هكذا اركضوا لكي تنالوا”(1 كورنثوس9: 24) 

 

فلنجلس مع انفسنا في عيد الرسل هذا العام ومع آبائنا الروحيين ونكون جادين في وضع خطة تقربنا من الله كل يوم يمر علينا.

 

كل عيد رسل وأنتم بخير

 

 ٢. زيارة هيئة Hearing Australia – الثلاثاء 23 يوليو

إذا كنت تبلغ من العمر 55 عاماً وتود أن تختبر قدرتك على السمع… فإن هيئة Hearing Australia ستقوم بزيارة الكنيسة للمساعدة في الحصول على كشف مبدئي ومجاني على السمع وإحالتك إلى اختبارات إضافية إذا كان هناك حاجة إلى ذلك.

تقابل معنا في قاعة الكنيسة يوم الثلاثاء 23 يوليو الساعة 10:30ص.

٨. نرجوكم مراعاة الجيران

يُرجى الانتباه إلى الإرشادات التالية:

تجنب ركن السيارات بجوار مداخل المنازل أو بجانب زوايا الشارع: تأكد دائماً من عدم سد أي مداخل/مخارج المنازل والامتناع عن الركن بالقرب من زوايا الشارع حيث يتم حجب الرؤية لغيرك من سائقي السيارات والمشاة.

الوصول والمغادرة الهادئة: يُرجى التزام الهدوء على قدر الإمكان عند الوصول إلى الكنيسة وعند مغادرتها. سيساعد هذا الحرص على الاحتفاظ بهدوء وسلام منطقتنا.

عدم الركن في Broe Avenue: يُرجى الحرص على عدم ركن السيارات في Broe Avenue مما يسبب اختناق مروري وهو أمر خطير.

احترام الأماكن المحجوزة الخاصة بالجيران. قد يضع بعض الجيران صناديق القمامة أو غيرها لحجز أماكن لسياراتهم. ينبغي احترام احتياجاتهم ورغباتهم، يرجى عدم تحريك هذه العلامات وعدم الركن في الأماكن المحجوزة.
