Spiritual message of the week by Father Augustinos:
The Secret Room
In the gospel on Sunday of the preparation for Lent, the first spiritual practice we are instructed to do is in Mathew 6:6
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”
This Lent, let it be a deep and intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. We want to experience His deep love and we want to enter into His glory. We want to enter into His mystery and for our Lord to reveal his secrets to us.
In Songs 1:4 the human soul is saying “The king has bought me into his chamber we will be glad and rejoice in you” …
And again our soul says in Songs 3:4 “When I found the one I love I held him and would not let him go, until I bought him to the house of my mother and into the chamber of her who conceived me..” this alludes to the intimate secrets that only the beloved will know about us and we will know about Him the beloved Lord Jesus.
How do we enjoy the deep intimate love of our Beloved this Lent?
We carefully observe the gospel’s command of preparation Sunday which says that we should go into our room and pray to our Father with the door shut.
We shall fulfil this in the following way. We pray in our room or special prayer room (Nest, Nido or cell), perhaps with icons and candles Then we withdraw our hearts completely from the clatter of every thought, every passion, every distraction, concerns and disclose our prayers to the Lord in secret, as it were intimately with Him.
We pray with the door shut with closed lips and in total silence. We pray to the searcher not of voices but of hearts. We pray in secret, drawing the heart and mind in alone. We offer our petitions to God alone, so that even the adversary powers cannot not discover the nature of our petition.
We must pray with the greatest silence and times without any thought, so we may hear the voice of the Lord in our hearts to comfort and give us consolation.
We pray in vigils to break our sleep to experience the presence of the Lord in complete silence. As David said in Ps 63:1 “O God, You are my God; Early I will see you my soul thirst for you”. As the world is asleep it will be only you and the Lord Jesus alone. The feeling of having Christ to yourself is like in Mathew 13:45-46, when the Lord Jesus said “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it”.
Let’s focus on the pearl of great price this Lent. Let’s sell all of our sins, distractions, attachments and passions to purify our hearts to buy the pearl of great price. Let’s enjoy the beauty of the Lord Jesus in a clear, unobstructed way, with a pure heart and rest assured God will reveal His many secrets and mysteries and show us His glory in our life.

4. The Families Service is delighted to launch its Parents meet and greet events!
Please join us on the allocated day for your children’s Sunday school year group to meet other parents, Sunday School servants and enjoy a spiritual talk by one of our beloved Fathers.
Full schedule included with weekly reminders to be sent out for each event. Don’t worry if you can’t stay the whole time, we’d love to meet you for a quick introduction. We will have lunch available right after Sunday school drop off time. The lovely Sunday School servants will bring the children out at 11.30 am to meet you at the Narrow Gate so you don’t have to pick them up.

5. Quarterly Cleaning Days
Below are the dates reserved for the Quarterly Church Cleaning days in 2022. Please block these dates in your calendar. We need many helping hands to keep our church clean.

The Great Lent has just begun. Please find the detailed list of church services below.
Masses:
Andeel Prayers (The Unction Sacrament):
It is always a great blessing for the church fathers to visit the congregation during Lent and pray Andeel at their homes. Please take an appointment by sms (0450522083) or with one of the church fathers. If you like, you can also use this site to book https://forms.gle/nbNR1DZMuXFiTTE66
Fasting and Spiritual Canon:
We encourage the congregation to see their confession fathers at least once during Lent. Arrange with Abouna your fasting and prayer canon (law) during Lent.
The Church is always open for you to come and pray:
Number of servants are committed to stay in the Church for slots of 2 hours most days, praying Agpia and reading the Bible. The aim is to keep the Church open most of the time for the congregation to visit at any time to pray or light a candle. If you would like to share in this service, please contact one of the fathers. Call any of the fathers if you would like to pray but find the door is closed.
Spiritual Meetings and Bible Study:
Lent is a perfect time of the year to come more often to Church and get nurtured spiritually. We encourage you to attend one or more of the following meetings:
Saturday: Vesper & Tasbeha 7pm. Tesbeha starts 8pm.
Church Ritual and Hymns for deacons and all congregation 6:30-7:00pm.
Monday: Bible study
Arabic: 7-8:30pm, ‘The full book of Esther’. Speakers are some beloved Fathers from various Churches.
English: 7:30-9pm
Tuesday: Tasbeha 8:30-9:30pm
Wednesday: Confession night; Praise Meeting 7-8:30pm (Arabic church),
Thursday: Tasbeha 9:30-10:30pm
Friday: Family meeting 7-9pm (Arabic) and Youth Meetings (English) 8pm.

يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع قدس أبونا أوغسطينوس
المخدع السري
في إنجيل يوم الأحد الخاص بالاستعداد للصوم الأربعيني، أول ممارسة روحية يوصى أن نتعلمها هي في متى٦:٦
"وأما أنت فمتى صليت فأدخل إلى مخدعك وأغلق بابك وصل إلى أبيك الذي في الخفاء فأبوك الذي يرى في الخفاء يجازيك علانية:"
فليكن هذا الصوم المقدس علاقة عميقة وحميمة بربنا يسوع المسيح. نريد أن نختبر محبته العميقة ونريد أن ندخل إلى مجده. نريد أن ندخل في سره وأن يكشف لنا عن أسراره.
في نشيد الإنشاد ١:٤تقول النفس البشرية "أدخلني الملك إلى حجاله. نبتهج ونفرح بك."
ومرة أخرى تقول النفس في النشيد ٣:٤ "حتى وجدت ما تحبه نفسي، فأمسكته ولم أرخه، حتى أدخلته بيت أمي وحجرة من حبلت بي"
يشير هذا إلى الأسرار الحميمة التي سيعرفها عنا الحبيب فقط وسوف نعرف عنه، عن الرب يسوع الحبيب.
كيف نستمتع بالحب العميق الحميم لحبيبنا يسوع المسيح هذا الصوم المقدس؟
نلاحظ بعناية وصية الكتاب المقدس للاستعداد يوم الأحد والتي تنص على أننا يجب أن ندخل مخدعنا ونصلي إلى أبينا والباب مغلق.
سنحقق ذلك بالطريقة التالية. نصلي في مخدعنا أو غرفة الصلاة الخاصة، ربما بالأيقونات والشموع ثم ننقي قلوبنا تمامًا من كل فكر، كل عاطفة، كل انشغال وهموم ونكشف صلواتنا للرب في الخفاء، لأننا في علاقة حميمية معه.
نصلي والباب مغلق بشفتين مغلقتين وفي صمت تام. لا نصلي للفاحص الأصوات بل فاحص القلوب. نصلي في الخفاء، ونجذب القلب والعقل معاً. نقدم التماسانا إلى الله وحده، لكيلا تتمكن حتى القوى المعادية من اكتشاف طبيعة التماسنا.
يجب أن نصلي بأكبر قدر من الصمت وقضاء الوقت دون تفكير، حتى نسمع صوت الرب في قلوبنا ليريحنا ويعزينا.
نصلي في سهر، نقطع نومنا لنختبر حضور الرب في صمت تام. كما قال داود في مز٦٣:١ "يا الله إلهي انت. اليك أبكر. عطشت اليك نفسي"
بما أن العالم نائم، فستكون أنت وحدك مع الرب يسوع. إن الشعور بوجود المسيح لك لوحدك يشبه ما ذكر في انجيل متى١٣: ٤٥-٤٦ "ايضاً يشبه ملكوت السماوات انسانًا تاجرًا يطلب لَآلِئَ حسنة. فلما وجد لُؤْلُؤَةً واحدةً كثيرة الثمن مضى وباع كل ما كان لهُ واشتراها."
دعونا نركز على اللؤلؤة الكثيرة الثمن في هذا الصوم المقدس. دعونا نبيع كل ذنوبنا، وانشغالاتنا، وما نتعلق به ونشغف به لننقي قلوبنا لنشتري اللؤلؤة الكثيرة الثمن. دعونا نستمتع بجمال الرب يسوع بطريقة واضحة وخالية من العوائق، بقلب نقي وتأكد أن الله سيكشف أسراره العديدة ويظهر لنا مجده في حياتنا.

صلوات القنديل (سر مسحة المرضى)
نعمة كبيرة أن يقوم آباء الكنيسة بزيارة الشعب وأن يقيموا لهم صلاة القنديل في منازلهم خلال الصوم الكبير.
يُرجى تحديد موعد عن طريق إرسال رسالة إلى الرقم (0450522083) أو مع أحد آباء الكنيسة.

الصوم والقانون الروحي:
نحثكم على مقابلة أب الاعتراف على الأقل مرة واحدة خلال الصوم المقدس. حدد مع اب اعترافك قانونك الروحي من صوم وصلاة خلال الصوم الكبير
الكنيسة مفتوحة باستمرار حتى تتمكن من الحضور والصلاة:
تعهد عدد من الخدام بالتواجد في الكنيسة لفترات تصل إلى ساعتين في معظم الأيام، للصلاة من الأجبية وقراءة الكتاب المقدس. والهدف إبقاء الكنيسة مفتوحة معظم الوقت حتى يتمكن الشعب من زيارتها في أي وقت للصلاة ولإضاءة شمعة. إذا كنت ترغب في المشاركة في تلك الخدمة، يُرجى الاتصال بأحد آباء الكنيسة. اتصل بأي من آباء الكنيسة إذا وجدت الباب مغلقاً وترغب في الصلاة.
