1. Weekly Spiritual Message
Spiritual message of the week by Father Elijah:
As we approach the Advent Fast, I would like to share with you some advice from HH Pope Shenouda III. He suggests that during this fast we focus on the virtue of restraint:
1. Focus on the virtue of restraint for “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” Proverbs 16:32
2. Restrain the tongue for “In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.” Proverbs 10:19
3. Do not say all that comes to mind and do not say all that you hear (it may not be the truth).
4. Fortify your mind and watch out for the thoughts of anger, revenge, envy, hatred, pride or condemnation “A garden enclosed Is my sister, my spouse, A spring shut up, A fountain sealed.” Song of Solomon 4:12
5. Restrain your senses.
6. Restrain your will. If you do not yet love to do good, then during the fast try to force yourself.
7. Do not let your freedom impose on the rights and freedom of others. Let your freedom end where the freedom of others begins.
2. Extra Mass during Nativity Fast
Starting from next Friday 2 December, we will have a late mass at 1 -3pm each Friday during the Nativity Fast.
The church wishes you a blessed Nativity fast, full of holiness and a spiritual revival that we really need.
3. Christmas Cookies
Orders for St Mark’s delicious Christmas Cookies are being taken now.

4. Parish Council Election Registration & Nomination
Dear Congregation
The Parish Council Elections will be held on Sunday 4 December 2022 between 8am and 2pm. Please see attached the Parish Election Announcement from the Diocese.

6. Zion youth needs your help!!
This Christmas our youth will be preparing hampers and cooked meals to hand out to those who are sleeping rough on the streets of Sydney.
We need donations in order to make this possible so that our homeless brothers and sisters can eat and sleep a little easier this coming holiday.
Bank details are in the poster and all donations are tax deductible.

يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع قدس أبونا إيلايجا
مع اقترابنا من صوم الميلاد، أود أن أشارككم بعض نصائح قداسة البابا شنودة الثالث التي يقترح فيها التركيز على فضيلة الانضباط.
ا- ركز على فضيلة الانضباط لأن " اَلْبَطِيءُ الْغَضَبِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْجَبَّارِ، وَمَالِكُ رُوحِهِ خَيْرٌ مِمَّنْ يَأْخُذُ مَدِينَةً." أمثال ١٦:٣٢
٢- ضبط اللسان لأن "كثرة الكلام لا تخلو من المعصية، أما الضابط شفتيه فعاقل" أمثال ١٠:١٩
٣- لا تقل كل ما يخطر ببالك ولا تقل كل ما تسمعه (فقد لا تكون الحقيقة)
٤- حصّن عقلك وانتبه لأفكار الغضب، أو الانتقام، أو الحسد، أو الكراهية، أو الكبرياء أو الإدانة "أختي العروس جنة مغلقة، شريك حياتي، عين مقفلة، ينبوع مختوم". نشيد الأنشاد ٤:١٢
٥- اضبط حواسك.
٦- اضبط إرادتك. إذا كنت لا تحب فعل الخير بعد، فحاول أن تجبر نفسك أثناء الصوم.
٧- لا تدع حريتك تفرض على الآخرين حقوق وحريات. دع حريتك تنتهي حيث تبدأ حرية الآخرين.
٢.قداس إضافي خلال صوم الميلاد
ابتداءً من 2 ديسمبر ، سيتم إقامة قداس متأخر من ١ – ٣ ظهراً كل جمعة خلال صوم الميلاد
تتمنى لكم الكنيسة صوم ميلاد مملوء بالبركة والقداسة والنهضة الروحية التي نحتاجها جميعاً

نحن بحاجة إلى تبرعات لنسهل قليلاً على إخوتنا وأخواتنا الذين بلا مأوى تناول الطعام والنوم في موسم الاجازات القادم
